Janet
A WhatsApp-Based AI Health Agent for Guyana

19Labs is working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Guyana to support the launch of Janet, a WhatsApp-based AI health agent designed to help expand access to reliable health information and care navigation for people across Guyana.
Janet is built on 19Labs’ Toci WhatsApp AI agent technology and is being adapted to align with Guyana’s Ministry of Health guidelines. The goal is to provide a simple, familiar, and accessible digital health channel that can help Guyanese residents receive timely health guidance, understand available services, and navigate next steps in care.
Why the Name Janet
The name Janet honors Janet Jagan, the former President of Guyana and wife of former President Cheddi Jagan. Her early life included nursing training and service in a dental clinic before her decades of public service. She remains an important figure in Guyana’s national history and public life. The name was selected to reflect service, public trust, and a commitment to reaching communities across the country.
Examples of How Janet Can Help
Janet supports a range of patient needs through distinct, coordinated care interactions — each designed to guide users toward appropriate next steps and reduce gaps between guidance and care.
Below are examples of how people might interact with Janet to seek and access guidance.
Across all interactions, users can share their location to receive information about nearby clinics or healthcare services.
Health Guidance & Education
People often need basic health information before deciding whether to seek care.
Janet supports early-stage health guidance by helping users understand symptoms, preventive practices, and when care may be needed in natural language - enabling more informed decisions and appropriate next steps.
